Interfacing directly with senior stakeholders to drive the data architecture required to deliver the business goals.

Data is increasingly a high profile strategic initiative for and they have a number of major work streams that have complex data architecture inputs, and in effect are data architect led relying heavily on the collection, integration and modelling of data to be successful.

You are also part of the Architecture Team and mentor the data engineering team and broader technology community in their data strategy. Day to day you will work in a dedicated data team, supporting and informing the overall data delivery workstreams across the business.

You are responsible for the architecture and solution design of elegant, secure, robust, performant and cost effective data solutions. You oversee the design, implementation, testing and deployment of those solutions into production, taking ownership of issues as they arise. Strong technical expertise, business acumen, communication skills and attention to detail are key in this role.

Experience/Skills:

• Knowledge and experience of designing and delivering end to end data solutions into a complex ecosystem.
• Have a grasp of a wide variety of data technologies, understanding when and where to use them appropriately.
• Proven experience of delivering against a data strategy in a large, established Business, ideally with a media focus.
• Be a certified solution architect in either GCP or AWS (GCP preferred), with detailed knowledge of the technical capabilities of one or both cloud platforms in relation to Big Data.
• Understand how to leverage data and analytics, allowing the Business to drive change through data driven insights.
• Proven experience in Datamodelling, BI platforms and reporting interfaces.
• Experience of designing and implementing complex, scalable ETL pipelines (ideally Talend) in a data warehousing ecosystem.
• Have a software engineering background with at least 5 years experience of one of the following languages: Python, Java or Scala.
• Excellent understanding of web and data technologies, including APIs, caching, ETL, persistence (SQL and NoSQL), predictive analytics, data visualisation and unstructured data.
• Excellent knowledge in data security standards with an understanding of how to prepare a Business for GDPR.
• Excellent understanding of the complete SDLC in an Agile environment.
• Demonstrate a broad and deep understanding of emerging Data technologies (specifically around AI and ML) backed by innovative, creative and appropriate ideas for their use.
